Trying to lose weight? How are you managing your nutrition intake?
If it's not measured, it's not managed. Counting calories may not be the most effective tool when it comes to weight loss, but it is a management tool. I have tried several versions and methods and so far I keep coming back to my good ole pen and paper.
Now that I am dedicated to a new 30-day goal with my friend Leandro, I have started tracking my numbers again. I tend to do this off and on depending on my goals and just to calibrate myself periodically. I find that I am pretty good at estimating my caloric needs now that I have done this a few times, but when I am working on a goal, I like to be able to troubleshoot if anything starts going wrong, or I like to know for sure why things are going right. This requires data.
Rather than reinvent the wheel, take a look at some of my prior blog posts to see just how easy I do it. It's not rocket science, it's just a little calorie accounting.
