Meet Jeff

Welcome to our blog.

Our Coach Mantra:
"I will be your coach. I will help to mentor you. When you have fitness or nutrition questions, I will be here to answer them. When you are struggling to push play, let me know and I will help to motivate you. I can guarantee, a time will come when the food will be an issue, pushing play will be an issue, motivation will be an issue. So I am here to help guide you on your path to the new freedom that comes with your new mind and body."

We ask people that we are coaching to post on one of our Facebook walls consistently to let us know how you are doing. With Facebook as an accountability tool, we can work hard to keep an eye on you and your successes, but it's easier if you bring them to us! Should you fall off the wagon, we'll come calling to get you back on it.

If it sounds like this is something you would like to have, take a look at our individual account pages to get to know us a little better, then click the link next to our picture to join our team. We look forward to seeing you set free!

About Jeff
.....
To continue to get more fit as I get older is a feeling so great I can't explain it to you. To know that I don't have to get older, that I can continue to get stronger is the most liberating feeling I can remember. To be able to help others do the same is something special to me.

I used to think I was in good shape. I was the Command Fitness Leader for my Navy Reserve unit scoring consistently in the top percentile in the Navy's Physical Fitness Assessment. There was more still to learn.

All my life I have been training. Eventually the Navy found me and put my mind and body to good use. As the Rescue Swimmer of USS Barry (DDG-52), I was one of the fittest people on board. Often, I would help less fit members of the crew get fit enough to pass their semi-annual fitness test to help them make Sailor of the Quarter or some other worthy goal.

I left the Navy in search of something more. Found Semi-conductors. Missed the Navy; found the Navy Reserve Force. Became my unit's Physical Training Instructor (PTI). About this time the Navy got serious about fitness and started kicking people out who failed to meet standards. I was able to rehabilitate several. If I could mandate my current fitness method, all would still be serving.

The Navy educated me in many aspects of exercise: exercise physiology, injury prevention, musculo-skeletal system, cardio-respiratory system, flexibility, extreme environments, etc. Even with all that book knowledge, I couldn't do much to keep some of my shipmates engaged. A respected mentor introduced me to P90X, I was his Fitness Leader in the Navy. He had started Power90 and would later take on P90X. I think P90X should be the baseline of fitness for the armed forces.

I was in good shape before. A few rounds of P90X later, some P90X+, and a little Insanity, and I am in better health and fitness than when I was the Rescue Swimmer on USS Barry.

When I started P90X, I had been suffering for some time with a shoulder pain that had been caused by multiple dislocations. My right side had initially been damaged getting hung up in a bull-riding accident, then repeated several times in mountain bike crashes and once on a mission off the coast of... in the Persian Gulf. My left shoulder had recently been damaged in a bike crash at Whistler, British Columbia. I couldn't press five pound dumbbells over my head without pain.

After one round of P90X, I had lost 12lbs without changing my diet (I thought I knew better). More importantly, much of the pain was gone and my strength was significantly improved. As time has gone on, I have found this program and others in the Beachbody arsenal to be the fountain of youth.

P90X Round 1 Before and After
After P90X I decided to try INSANITY. This time I would follow the program to the letter and watch closely everything that I put into my mouth. I kept a log book and documented carefully each step along the way. The results were amazing!

INSANITY Round 1 Before and After
Now I keep working the programs, learning new things, making my body my own favorite lab rat so that I can help others get the same results I have gotten.

Let me help you reach your goals. You have to bring the decision, and the commitment.
